Every January for the past several years, Alexandria Senior Services (SSA) has invited community leaders to share information about resources and programs designed to help caregivers as well as their loved ones as well as help people with problems. This caregiver support event continues to be one of SSA’s most popular educational programs. Caregivers are under more pressure than ever due to the pandemic and that’s why we wanted it to happen again.
This year, we are pleased to partner with Insight Memory Care, a local nonprofit adult health and day resource center that provides specialist care, support and education for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory impairments, to their families, caregivers and the community. They will host a virtual care giving at-a-glance workshop – tips, tricks and ‘Aha moments’

This has been a difficult year for all those who have faced the COVID-19 pandemic, but even more so for caregivers who depend on virtual resources to provide the support they need to care for their loved ones. Insight Memory Care has transformed many of its educational programs into a virtual platform and updated its Care giving at a Glance guide. It is a useful tool for families and caregivers offering support to those dealing with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. It is a real resource and guide to the challenge of caring for loved ones who are living with life-changing memory loss. These include communication advice, safety precautions, activities, routines and ways to take care of yourself as a caregiver.

We hope you will join us for this one-hour virtual workshop on Friday, January 22 starting at 10 a.m. Lindsey Vajpeyi, Director of Education and Outreach for Insight, will share information that will help caregivers gain confidence and ease the burden of their loved one’s dementia journey. It will also help if you are struggling to find the best way to support a loved one who is experiencing isolation and loneliness due to self-quarantine due to the pandemic.
